The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its EIB Global Directorate – Corporate Finance and Global Activities Department – Implementation Unit, at its headquarters in Luxembourg: TRAINEE

Duration: 6 months (fixed start date: 1st September/October 2025)

(With possible extension up to 12 months)

Please note that the Programme is created under the Financial Inclusion Fund (FIF) and is open to young nationals from one of the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) Region (Algeria, Egypt, Palestine, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco and Tunisia) and ACP (Africa, Caribbean and Pacific) Region, all 79 ACP Partner Countries (please see Provisions section).

Please note that you are requested to limit your applications to a maximum of three traineeship publications. We will only consider and retain the first three applications submitted.

Objective of the traineeship

You will support the team in their tasks related to their portfolio in the MENA region and ACP Partner Countries, with a particular focus on the preparation of Project Monitoring Reports (PMR) as well as with the collection and analysis of data and statistics of the GLO portfolio (recurring and ad hoc requests), and to support the team on ad hoc tasks relevant for the delivery of GLO Business Plan in the MENA and ACP region.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Head of Unit and senior colleagues, you will actively participate in the unit's core activities, with a particular focus on MENA region and ACP Partner Countries. Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Set-up the list and status of the operations where Project Monitoring Reports (PMR) remain to be done, prepare the action plan and implement it with the support of Operational Analysts and the Head of Unit.

  • Collect, prepare and analyse data/statistics on GLO Business lending activities upon request.

  • Support the team with ad hoc tasks relevant for the delivery of GLO Business Plan (e.g. draft of notes, review and analysis of internal/external documents).

  • Provide support for presentations and organization of workshops upon request.

Academic qualifications and professional skills

  • Final year of studies or University degree (under-graduate) of a MENA/ACP partner country that includes economics, finance and/or business related courses.

  • Previous work experience/traineeship in a bank, financial institution and/or an audit firm is considered as an advantage.

  • Good to advanced knowledge of MS Office software, in particular Word, Powerpoint and Excel.

  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Good knowledge of other languages of the region where EIB Global operates, such as French, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic and/or Ukrainian would be considered as an advantage.
