Within the Department of Precision Health, Dr. Torsten Bohn, Head of the Nutrition & Health Research Group (NUTRIHEALTH), aims, in collaboration with his team, to explore Western dietary patterns, their (non)nutrient composition and association to chronic conditions, e.g., metabolic syndrome and related aspects. An important focus is the relation of diet to public health and associated innovative biomarkers of dietary composition, such as oxidative stress, body composition, micronutrients, and phytochemicals.
For a project related to cardiometabolic health, we are offering a 6 months paid Master (2)-Student internship at our premesis.
The main tasks of the Master Student will be to work on analyzing data, and participate in writing article(s) related to dietary quality indicators and public health. In the frame of this work, the Master student will benefit from the expertise of Dr. Torsten Bohnin nutrition and health, and Dr. Farhad Vahid in nutritional epidemiology.Statistical support in-house is available.
MAIN ACTIVITIES
- Data analyses;
- Writing a high-level scientific paper;
- Discuss results within group & other researchers;
- Interpret findings statistically;
- Participate in project meetings & organization;
- Give presentations at local institute level;
- Join other group-based activities.
REQUIRED PROFILE
- Master (2) in Nutritional Epidemiology, Public Health, Nutrition or Bio-informatics with a focus on Diet & Health, or comparable;
- Good experience in working on large datasets;
- Good statistical knowledge and hands-on experience with statistical programs (e.g. SPSS, R, and/or SAS…);
- Good writing skills in English;
- Good organizational skills;
- High motivation and discipline to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
