Project Description:

Recycled PET material assessment for the use in two-stage stretch-blow molding process with focus on the inflation behavior

Responsibilities:

  • Customize lab equipment to project specific needs including hardware changes, software changes and data acquisition
  • Support retrofit of test benches
  • Implement characterization procedure for high-speed video image correlation in stretch-blow molding process
  • Evaluate material characteristics for different material grades
  • Develop and calibrate material models
  • Sensitivity study of material to process parameters
  • Elaborate deep science understanding of experiments in detail, evaluate parameters and their scientific influence on blow molding process as well as impact on downstream equipment
  • Link results to preform and/or material quality attributes
  • Develop preform design guidelines

Qualifications:

  • Mechanical/Plastics engineering student, master level degree or equivalent
  • Time frame: six months
  • Strong mechanical skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong project, organization and time management skills
  • Fluency in English is essential, additional language skills are considered an asset
  • Software: MS Office, Matlab, FEA software (Ansys Polyflow, Ansys FEA)
