The Physical Activity, Sport and Health (PASH) research group aims to improve knowledge on the beneficial effects of physical activity on individualsโ health with and without disease and of any age, as well as on the mechanisms leading to the development of sports injury.
Dr. Laurent Malisoux, PhD, Head of this research group, is seeking a Masterโs student for the RRI_Interv5 project which aims to investigate the effect of different cushioning solutions on injury risk in a cohort of over 1000 runners. The project focuses on the influence of cushioning material at both the rear and the forepart of running shoes on injury risk in leisure-time runners. Three different shoe versions will be tested. In this randomised trial, each participant will receive a free pair of running shoes and will be asked to give access to their running data from their sport watch, as well as report any injury on a weekly basis in a dedicated web application.
The student will participate in the recruitment of the participants and their follow-up during the intervention. Concomittantly, the student will regularly conduct some verifications of the completeness and the validity of the data. The student will also work on the data cleaning and run some preliminary analyses. The student will work under the supervision of Dr. Malisoux, PI of the project, which also involves a private partner (Decathlon).
