We are looking for an intern to reinforce existing energy markets analysis and modeling team. In this position you will integrate the company Arcelormittal Energy SCA and more specifically the Middle Office team of 3 analysts located in Luxembourg. As an energy market modeling intern, you will be responsible for design, development of new models to be used by Energy purchasing team in ArcelorMittal.
The position is based in Luxembourg.
Within the Middle Office of ArcelorMittal Energy SCA, the Intern will have the following mission:
Market intelligence
- Collect relevant information and market data
- Assimilate financial/market reports
- Support with analysis (economical & technical) new business and axes of development driven by Buyers
- Provide key parties with daily trading information
- Enhance energy fundamentals database for internal models
Models and analysis on European Energy Markets
- Develop new tools to capture additional value: battery optimization model on day-ahead, intraday, and ancillary services markets
- Develop a machine learning model to predict short term European balancing power prices at 15min granularity.
The main stakeholders of this position will be the Middle Office team and the Energy purchasing team.
Duration of internship - 6 months
Your profile / What you bring & who you are ideally:
- Preferable choice for Engineering schools but other profiles can be considered (M1 or M2)
- Excel skills are critical
- Programming skills on Python and strong data science / machine learning knowledge are critical
- Strong critical thinking/analytical skills
- Ability to think systemically and solve problems effectively and efficiently
- Demonstrate initiative, specific subject knowledge/expertise and leadership
- Must be able to communicate effectively (both in written and verbal form)
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to interact effectively and professionally within a multi-cultural environment
- Languages: Fluent English is a must. Other languages will be a plus
