The European Investment Fund (EIF) is seeking to recruit for its Iberia Unit of the Institutional Mandate Relationship Southern Europe Division within Investment Office, at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a Trainee.

Specific Post Environment:
The Trainee will be part of the Institutional Mandate Relationship Southern Europe Division (MORE SEE), in the Mandate Origination & Relationship Management Department within the Investment Office. The MORE SEE division plays a pivotal role in identifying, structuring, and maintaining strategic relationships with external investors, in both the public and private sector. As the market for alternative investments evolves, there is a growing need to enhance our capacity to analyse market trends, regulatory barriers, and internal processes to better serve institutional partners.
The trainee will be part of the Iberia Unit.
Overall objective:
Your overall objective will be to:
- Execute market analysis, regulatory research and identify potential investors.
- Streamline internal processes for onboarding of new clients.
Responsibilities:
Under the guidance of a senior colleague within the team, you shall:
- Perform in depth market analysis including regulatory barriers affecting institutional investor’s ability to allocate capital to alternative investments.
- Identify internal processes improvements for onboarding of new clients.
- Prepare presentations and briefing notes for internal and external meetings.
Expected outcome:
- Proposals for improvements to internal processes and client onboarding.
- Delivery of market analysis on fundraising opportunities for the geographical scope of the unit.
- Delivery of administration support (briefing notes and presentations) for both internal and external meetings, and templates and preliminary assessments for new mandates or institutional partners.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related field. Candidate may be enrolled in the final year of a Master’s degree.
- Understanding of the mission and main products of the European Investment Fund.
- Strong interest in and understanding of topics related to EU Private Equity and Venture Capital.
- Aptitude for market data analysis would be an advantage.
- Familiarity with EU and national-level regulatory frameworks.
- Proficiency of Microsoft application tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of Spanish or Portuguese is a plus.
Competencies:
- Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information.
- Experience in preparing detailed reports, briefing notes, and presentations.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Attention to detail.
