Our Internship Programme is designed to give you an insight into what life at DLA Piper is really like. As an intern at DLA Piper, you are given real responsibilities, supporting our clients wherever they operate around the world. You will have the chance to learn through practical work and observation in a truly global firm, giving you an outstanding breadth of legal knowledge, as well as the practical skills that will stay with you for your entire career.

You will also be fully involved in our pro bono and knowledge activities. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with other DLA Piper offices and experience our “One Team, No Borders” way of working, to improve and test your technical legal skills internationally.

Our Internship Programme is 6 months in duration, and is available in the following periods:

  • January – June 2027
  • July – December 2027

Opportunities are available across the following Practice Groups:

  • Corporate
  • Finance (Finance/Banking/Regulatory)
  • Investment Funds
  • Intellectual Property & Technology
  • Litigation & Regulatory
  • Tax

This internship role is for a fixed term. It is not a Bar traineeship role. Within your application, you can submit your preference for the practice group that you would like to work in.

About you

In addition to the eligibility criteria, we are looking to recruit interns with the behaviours, strengths and skills that will enable success at DLA Piper and within a legal career. These include, but are not limited to:

  • A strong academic record
  • Excellent communication and drafting skills in English and French. Proficiency in German or another language would also be advantageous
  • Motivation to work in the legal industry and start your career with us
  • A desire to learn more, proactively seeking opportunities to do so
  • Taking pride in every aspect of your work, where no detail is too small
  • Connecting with others to create long lasting relationships
  • Adapting your approach depending on the situation and in the face of any setbacks
