The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Inspectorate General Directorate (IG) – Complaints Mechanism Division (CM) – Complaints Handling & Admissibility Unit (Complaints&Admissible), at its headquarters in Luxembourg: TRAINEE

Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st March/April 2025)

Objective of the traineeship

The traineeship is intended to:

  • Support the Complaints Mechanism Division (CM) and the Complaints Handling and Admissibility Unit in the complaints handling as well as with the existing workload,

  • Contribute to the compliance review function, dispute resolution and outreach activities for internal and external purposes,

  • Support the implementation of the existing policy and procedures. You are not expected to conduct any complaints handling by her/himself, but will support the relevant officers. As such, s/he will be involved during the different stages of case management and therefore be offered a learning opportunity regarding the public accountability of the EIB Group.

Responsibilities

Under the responsibility of the relevant (Senior) Officer, you will contribute to the implementation of the EIB-CM Policy and Procedures by helping to support the complaints handling as well as other tasks.

Further, under the responsibility of the relevant officer(s) you shall support the handling of specific complaints in:

  • Gathering and reviewing internal and external information pertinent to the case;

  • Establishing the relevant regulatory framework concerning the issues raised by the complaint;

  • Engaging with the relevant stakeholders, whenever appropriate;

  • Providing support in the area of communication and preparation of promotional material and related events organised by the Division.

Academic qualifications and professional skills

  • Final year of studies or University degree in law, political science, sustainable development, environmental or social studies, economics, business or public administration, EU studies or any related field;

  • Knowledge regarding accountability/complaints mechanisms, environmental and social impacts, international organisations and/or relations with civil society organisations would be an advantage;

  • Very good analytical and problem solving skills

  • Ability to summarise and present information with attention to detail

  • Ability to draft clear and concise reports

  • Committed team-player

  • Good interpersonal and negotiation skills

  • Flexibility and reliability, result orientation

  • Excellent knowledge of standard Microsoft Office tools;

  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and/or French. Knowledge of other EU or non-EU languages would be an advantage.
