Project
Our team manages the critical infrastructure that powers Rakuten Europe Bank's financial products. This is a hybrid environment, combining the scalability of public cloud (AWS) with robust on-premise solutions (Nutanix). You will be working at the core of our systems, which predominantly run on Linux, ensuring they are stable, secure, and ready to meet the demands of a modern digital bank.
Role
As our business and financial products scale, we are expanding our Cloud team. We are looking for a highly motivated Intern Cloud Engineer to join our team in Luxembourg. You will be an integral part of a team that values security and reliability above all else. You'll gain hands-on experience with our core technologies, including AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes (EKS), GitLab, and Nutanix, while scripting with Bash and Python. Clean, well-documented work is not an annoyance to you, but a valuable investment in our platform's future. We are looking for a great team player who enjoys open and proactive communication and is always looking for ways to improve the team as a whole. In our regulated environment, a healthy paranoia and a drive to enhance security and reliability are essential traits for success.
Qualifications
What we expect from you:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
- Solid understanding of Linux/UNIX operating systems and feel comfortable on the command line.
- Strong foundational knowledge of networking concepts (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, firewalls).
- You are no solo fighter and enjoy communicating and being part of a diverse team.
- Good English is mandatory.
What would be a plus:
- Familiarity with cloud computing concepts, particularly with AWS services.
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles, especially with Terraform.
- Basic knowledge of containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Experience with scripting languages like Python or Bash from university or personal projects.
- A proven focus on reliability and security in previous academic or personal projects.
- An interest in working within a regulated environment or the financial industry.
