The European Investment Fund (EIF) is seeking to recruit for its Senior Staff Office of Investment Office, at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a Trainee– Governance and Process Simplification.
Duration: 5 months & Starting date: November 2026
Specific Post Environment:
The Trainee will join the Senior Staff Office (“SSO”) within the Investment Office (“IO”). The IO consists of six (6) specialised departments that work together throughout the investment lifecycle, from the design and negotiation of financial instruments and mandates, through fundraising, transaction origination and execution, to portfolio monitoring, reporting and operational oversight.
A key element of the Investment Office's contribution is its extensive involvement in governance and decision-making processes across EIF. Staff from the different departments participate in numerous committees, steering groups, working groups and governance bodies, providing expertise, recommendations and decision support on matters relating to investments, mandates, risk management, operational processes and organisational priorities. IO is also owning or is contributor to a substantial number of processes that are also subject to periodic assessments and continuous improvement initiatives aimed at maintaining efficiency while preserving robust controls and accountability.
In this context, the trainee will contribute to improving the operational efficiency of Investment Office by developing digital solution that facilitates coordination of information, sharing and follow-up of activities related to governance bodies and committees.
The assignment will provide the trainee with the opportunity to understand how the different IO departments interact, as well as how the Investment Office contributes to governance and decision-making processes across EIF.
Overall objective:
The main objective will be to support the SSO function in structuring and improving the management of information related to IO governance activities through the design of practical and user-friendly digital solutions.

Support the SSO in improving the management and accessibility of information related to the Investment Office’s participation in governance bodies through practical digital solutions.
Contribute to process simplification initiatives by analysing governance-related information and supporting the development of automated tools for monitoring and follow-up.
Responsibilities:
Under the guidance of the SSO / other senior members of the team, you shall:
- Analyse and organise governance-related information and contribute to the development of a user-friendly tool providing a structured overview of IO participation in governance bodies.
Support the design of digital solution to improve information management, action tracking and follow-up of governance-related activities.
Assist in identifying opportunities for process simplification based on audit findings and internal evaluations and contribute to the development of practical recommendations.
Expected outcome:
A functional digital tool providing an up-to-date overview of IO participation in governance bodies and related key information.
Improved accessibility and monitoring of governance-related information and follow-up actions.
Practical recommendations and prototype solutions supporting process simplification and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
University degree (Bachelor minimum required) in Business Administration, Finance, Business Intelligence, Computer Science, law or similar disciplines. Candidate may be enrolled in the final year of a master’s degree.
Relevant coursework in data analysis would be an advantage.
Strong analytical and numerical skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (SharePoint, Copilot, M365 suite, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).[A1]
Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English.

Good understanding of governance, reporting or approval processes would be an advantage
