Background
Within the Luxembourg Institute of Health, the Controlling Team plays an important role in supporting the financial management and monitoring of the Institute’s research activities and projects.
Objectives
As part of a major digital transformation project, LIH is currently preparing the migration of its current Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, which has been used across the Institute for the past ten years, to another. As part of this project, the intern will have the opportunity to contribute to the migration of historical data from the current ERP to the new one, helping to ensure the accuracy, consistency and completeness of the data transferred to the new system.
Training and Environment
This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a major ERP migration project while working in the specific context of a biomedical research institute. Beyond the technical and controlling aspects of the project, the intern will have the opportunity to gain a broad overview of the Institute’s activities and research projects, and to better understand how financial and administrative processes support biomedical research.
The intern will join the Controlling Team, which consists of 7 members of 7 different nationalities, and will be supervised by Mr. Arne Kramer, Controlling Team Leader.
Key Accountabilities
- Support the migration of historical financial data from the current ERP to the new one.
- Review, clean and prepare historical data for migration.
- Create and maintain mapping between the two ERPs' data structures.
- Use Excel to analyse, compare and reconcile data, including lookup functions and pivot tables.
- Identify and resolve data inconsistencies and, where required, manually enter data into the new system.
- Perform data quality checks to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the migrated data.
- If time permits, support the preparation and transfer of the 2027 budget data into the new system.
Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Regularly enrolled in a university or higher education institution, pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Finance, IT or a related field.
- Good command of Microsoft Excel, including basic functions, formulas, lookup functions and pivot tables.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately with large amounts of data.
- Structured and organised approach to work.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the Controlling and IT teams.
