Master student for a research internship in Economics and Artificial Intelligence (f/m)

- Internship agreement for 3-6 months
- Full-time, 40 hours/week
- Work location: Belval (Luxembourg)
- Forseen start date : between May 1st 2025 and June 15th 2025
LISER is looking for a motivated student to join us in an exciting project at the crossroads of economics, computer science, and history. The LHPD project aims to apply Artificial Intelligence (AI) to extract information from historical sources and construct a unique database with information of hundreds of thousands of people tracked over 60 years. The team will rely on recent breakthroughs in AI applied to handwriting recognition and design a platform where users will be able to visualize the data through dynamic graphs and maps. The project is coordinated by Dr. Martín Fernández, Dr. Joël Machado, and Dr. Antoine Paccoud. The position is ideal for students considering a career in research.
Your Role
The selected candidate would be involved in many different tasks, among many others, helping develop AI models to recognize the text in the sources, designing data visualization tools and interactive platforms, cleaning and analyzing data and producing statistics, reviewing articles and drafting documents, etc.
Your Profile
- Enrolled in a Masters in Economics, Computer Science, or a related field ;
- Excellent organization and communication skills ;
- Knowledge of Python and R and strong background in data analysis ;
- Knowledge of AI, Machine Learning, and web development, is a plus ;
- Excellent verbal and writing skills in English, any other language is considered as an asset.
