Intern Technical Engineering & Design Office

Cargolux

About the job

Background:

Within the Cargolux Engineering, numerous design projects are performed under the framework of the EASA Part 21J Design Organization Approval (DOA). These projects involve rigorous processes to demonstrate compliance with certification requirements (e.g., CS-25), manage approval workflows, and maintain comprehensive design documentation. Currently, project data, compliance artifacts, and approval records are often distributed across multiple platforms (e.g., shared drives, spreadsheets, document repositories), which can lead to inefficiencies in traceability, version control, and overall project management. To address these challenges, the development of a centralized digital solution based on Microsoft Dataverse and PowerApps is proposed. This system aims to enhance the management of DOA projects by streamlining engineering workflows, improving compliance demonstration tracking, and ensuring consistent storage and accessibility of design documentation.

Tasks:

  • Support the analysis of current Part 21J engineering processes and contribute to identifying needs related to project tracking, compliance demonstration, approvals, and document management.
  • Assist in the design of a structured data model in Microsoft Dataverse to represent DOA project data, including compliance evidence and approval status.
  • Contribute to the development of a PowerApps application to help manage project lifecycles, track compliance activities, and support approval workflows and documentation handling.
  • Participate in the implementation and validation of the solution using representative scenarios, helping to assess improvements in efficiency, traceability, and data consistency.

Requirements:

Enrollment in a Bachelor or Master’s program in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.

Interest or experience in digital tools such as databases, low-code platforms (e.g., PowerApps), or process automation.

Familiarity with EASA Part 21J Design Organization Approval and CS-25 Certification Specifications is advantageous.

Proficiency in written and spoken English.

Additional Information:

The thesis will be conducted in close collaboration with Cargolux Engineering. The student will gain insight into real DOA processes and have access to relevant documentation and engineering expertise. The developed solution has the potential to be further implemented within the organization, contributing to long-term process improvements and digitalization initiatives.

Working Conditions:

  • Timeline: as of January 2027 , project length: 6 – 9 months.
  • 6 months full time Internship based in Luxembourg.
  • A Certificate of good conduct (Casier judiciaire, Polizeiliches Führungszeugnis) will be required in case of a positive selection.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • Regular office presence to be expected (located in SANDWEILER).
  • Paid internship.
