Detailed function
The Junior Information Security Officer supports the CISO and ISO Senior in the operational execution of the information security framework. The role focuses on recurring security controls, SOC ticket follow-up, vulnerability remediation tracking, audit evidence collection, access review support, KPI reporting, and documentation maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation and operational follow-up of the Information Security Policy by performing recurring security tasks under the guidance of the Senior Information Security Officer and the CISO.
- Ensure day-to-day follow-up of security operations:
- Monitor SOC (Security Operations Center) security tickets and ensure proper follow-up according to defined procedures.
- Coordinate with internal teams to support incident resolution and escalation.
- Escalate unresolved, overdue, or critical cases to the Senior ISO / CISO.
- Provide structured feedback to the SOC and maintain follow-up records.
- Assist in vulnerability management activities:
- Track and update vulnerability remediation plans.
- Monitor remediation deadlines and escalate delays or risks of non-compliance.
- Collaborate with technical teams to collect remediation evidence.
- Maintain an up-to-date status of open vulnerabilities and remediation actions.
- Process and follow-up internal security-related requests through ticketing systems (JIRA, etc.):
- Qualify and route incoming requests according to defined procedures.
- Follow up on resolution with the relevant teams
- Maintain documentation and evidence of actions performed.
- Escalate unclear, sensitive, or overdue requests to the CISO.
- Support audit and compliance processes by:
- Monitoring the implementation of corrective actions for audit findings, non-conformities and recommendations.
- Maintaining the status of audit findings and escalating delays to the CISO when necessary.
- Plan and execute predefined periodic security controls (e.g., quarterly access reviews, system checks):
- Ensure adherence to the security control calendar.
- Prepare control execution records and document findings.
- Collect supporting evidence and store it in the appropriate repository
- Escalate any deviation, missing evidence, or overdue control execution to the CISO.
- Support the management of physical and logical access rights to secure areas (e.g., server rooms, sensitive business units, applications):
- Process physical and logical access requests according to approved procedures
- Ensure access requests are properly validated by the authorized approvers.
- Conduct periodic reviews of physical access permissions and escalate and document anomalies.
- Contribute to the automation and reporting of security KPIs:
- Assist in collecting, formatting, and updating security metrics.
- Support dashboard preparation under Senior ISO supervision.
- Participate in maintaining operational documentation and evidence records.
Profile
Competencies Required
- Bachelor’s in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, IT, or related field is preferred.
- Initial experience (internship, work-study program, or first job) in information security or IT operations.
- Understanding of basic security concepts (e.g., SOC workflows, vulnerability lifecycle, audit cycles).
- Hands-on experience or strong familiarity with ticketing tools (JIRA) and Microsoft Excel.
- Good organizational and communication skills; ability to follow procedures and track actions precisely and coordinate follow-up across multiple teams.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a willingness to learn from senior team members.
- Team spirit and sense of responsibility in operational follow-through.
